Drive down the road in Tennessee and there’s a good chance you’re going to find a waterfall. It will likely be a small on on the side of the road, but there are no shortage of large ones if you go searching for them.
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we took off to explore The Natchez Trace Parkway. We explored a iron ore open pit mine, a phosphate mine, an iron mill and we ended our exploration at Fall Hollow at milepost 391.9
Fall Hollow has both easy and moderate hiking trails. To view the main waterfall, it’s just a short easy walk down a paved path to the scenic overlook to the side of the falls. It is doable for all abilities!
If you want to see multiple waterfalls and you’re a bit more adventurous, you can continue on the path to an unimproved hiking path that will take you to the bottom of the waterfalls. At the bottom, you can even get underneath the waterfalls! It’s absolutely magical!
What is so magic about waterfalls? The sound, the smell, the freaking RAINBOWS!!! There’s a whole little universe of growth under a waterfall. It’s fascinating how the the falling water bores smooth grooves into the rocks below.
If you are visiting the Hohenwald area of Tennessee, you don’t want to miss Hollow Falls on the Natchez Trace Parkway. It is one of many really awesome stops!
