Three Flags is the third park we’ve stayed in the thousand trails system. Florida has 3 parks that are included in the southeast zone. This one feels the oldest and most rundown despite obvious work and improvements. They are renovating the park in certain areas and attempts are being made to clean the place up. It is also the smallest of the 3 Florida parks. We heard lots of complaints on the internet that it’s a dump and poorly run. I have to say you should take these people’s comments with a grain of salt. We have friends who complain about how terrible a restaurant is and when we go there we love it. While the park is older and smaller than we’ve seen and definitely needs some upgrades. We found it to be an acceptable place to stay and did enjoy being here. In short I would not hesitate to book another stay.

We had reservations for our 2 week stay at this park. The night before we arrived we received a phone call from TTO informing us to not stop at the registration building. We were told to proceed directly to the main gate where they would have our paperwork. On arrival we were directed to the staging area (club house parking lot) where we could unhook Twinkie and be escorted to our site. Once we were all unhooked the woman in charge asked what my preferences were and showed me which sites were available. We chose what we liked and were promptly escorted to the site. All in all it went quick, smooth and painless. However when we arrived there were only 2 people ahead of us. More came in behind us and we were told that the following day they would have 75 people coming in. While we were here we regularly saw the line to get in going all the way out to the main road. Be prepared for a long wait during the busy season (Dec-Mar) unless you get lucky and arrive when no one else is checking in. Campground: Thousand Trails Orlando

I plan to do a post on each campground we stay at. A review of sorts but not so stiff. I really want to put down my thoughts and impressions about each place we stay so others may benefit from our experience but also as a record for us so we know if we would want to come back to this location in the future.I expect these will evolve over time as we discover what we like, dislike and come to appreciate in a park. For those that don’t know we are members of a campground club that has parks all over the US and Canada. We pay our yearly membership dues and we get to stay in all of their parks for one flat fee. We did a post some where about Thousand Trails and there is a ton of information on the internet about it. This is our first stay at a one of their parks. All the opinions and thoughts expressed are my own based solely on my own experiences. We have not been compensated in any way for our reviews of the places we stay.
When Pookie and I decided to embark on this journey we came up with this crazy idea that we could go anywhere so long as she could find this remote job that would be the answer to our unfortunate need for money to finance the adventure. I wish Regina would run on hugs and well wishes but 6 mpg is going to require some cash. In the beginning there was a lot of dreaming and what if-ing on our part. In reality that’s kind of where the adventure begins. We talked about where we wanted to go and the places we wanted to see. We even bought a map of the US and stuck pins in all the important places so we could try and plan a route. We told Dozer about all the amazing walks he could go on and piles of poop he could sniff. We didn’t really have a clue how we were going to get there but talking about it and thinking about it kind of motivated us to keep after this thing we wanted to do. I don’t know if I want to call it dream. Sure I thought it would be fun, the three of us exploring the country together. But I honestly wasn’t sure we could make it happen when we came up with this. Lazydays RV Resort is located in Seffner, FL just outside Tampa. It is located adjacent to the Lazydays RV Dealership with over 1,400 RVs! The campground has many activities and amenities and conveniently located within easy driving distance of the Tampa nightlife. If you don’t have a tow vehicle, Uber is present in the area and only a few bucks! While we chose to come to Lazydays because they had availability and we were evacuating from Hurricane Matthew, we definitely enjoyed our stay! Continue reading “Lazydays RV Resort – Seffner, FL”
