Black Eagle Brewery – Black Eagle, MT

Did someone say Butte Pasty?

With the arrival of Welsh and Cornish miners to Montana the pasty became a popular delicacy in Butte. These beef and potato delights needed no cutlery, could be easily heated over a candle and ensured that the filling didn’t come into contact with dirty fingers.

You’re probably asking yourself, “What does this have to do with a brewery?”  Black Eagle Brewery shares it’s home with  the Pit Stop Raceway Cafe! Great beer and great food in one place! There’s something for everyone on the menu from burgers to the famed Butte Pasty.

Now, on to the beer.  You like beer, right? Just as the food, Black Eagle boasts a little something for everyone from rich Scottish Ales to fruity Cream Ales. We tried a little bit of everything:

Copper Nail Nut Brown Ale
Electric City Mocha Porter
Sun Canyon Tangerine Cream Ale
Lemongrass Cream Ale
Smelter Men Blonde Ale
Smoke Stack Scottish Ale
Black Eagle IPA S.O.S. IPA
Late Shift #3 IPA

Final Thoughts?

Our favorites were the Black Eagle IPA and Smoke Stack Scottish Ale. We stopped at Black Eagle because we found them on Google Maps and they appeared to have a large parking lot. Since we were looking for an overnight near Great Falls, MT and we love beer we figured we’d get them on the horn and see if we could have a dandy sleep over! We were certainly not disappointed by their amazing food and delicious beer!
